Me: A foodie Dad in the USA who knows how to hand-cook long-grain, sushi, basmati, jasmine, and brown rice so they're just right. I rise early every morning to hand-make lunches for my four children and my wife because I'm socially awkward and emotionally closed off, and this is one way that I show my family that I love them. I'm a middle-class working guy, without tons of money, so I don't buy $100+ kitchen appliances on a whim. I mean, I bought my wife a Kitchen-Aid mixer eight years ago because she wanted it, but I winced at the price. I've owned this product for five months, and used it 4+ times a week during that period.

Even thought it looks smaller than the bigger one, it is not that small. For me, 6-8 people can rely on it. Aroma ARC-914SBD 4-Cup (Uncooked) 8-Cup (Cooked) Digital Rice Cooker and Food Steamer

After reading many reviews about so many different rice cookers, it appeared that this one was the best overall value and quality for a reasonable price. I purposely avoided the very expensive models as I didn't expect to use this machine on a daily basis therefore not worth a purchase price in the range of $ 200.00.
Bottom Line: The Aroma has been tested and works flawlessly. It makes perfect rice in about the time it says it will. It has added controls that cheaper versions lack which makes it very useful and overall it is quite easy to clean. I do recommend that after a gentle hand cleaning that the lid remain open and allow possible moisture under hard to reach areas time to evaporate.

This product is well worth the purchase price and I would buy this again if I needed a bigger one or one for a gift.

Cute little steamer. My rice gets a touch brown on the bottom layer but I really like this affordable cooker. Have yet to explore the steaming aspect.

This is very simple and very easy to use. I Love the timer delay on it. Makes dinner much easier.Perfect Rice couldn't be easier. I prefer to add a bit more water than recommended to assure the rice stays moist. Worth the investment.

We were looking for a rice cooker for 2 people and this one works perfectly. Rice has come out great. This little guy just keeps on cooking. its pretty easy to clean and it keeps the rice warm real well. A bonus is that if you keep the rice warmer on for a while you get a real light layer of toasted rice on the bottom.I really wanted a small rice cooker for day to day use. This a very neat rice cooker. Cooks well, not much of water steaming out(Like the other brands) takes little space on the counter and looks very clean because of the stainless steel look. Cleaning is easy with nonstick container. I recommend this to everyone.I cannot cook rice to perfection to save my life, so I finally purchased a rice cooker. This is my first and I am very pleased! The compact design, ease of use and clean-up are two thumbs up. It's simple enough that my children can assist me in the kitchen and I love the stay warm feature. This allows me to prepare my meat and vegetables and not worry about stirring or straining my rice. The brown rice feature is PERFECT! A delicious, non-sticky and not overcooked batch every time.

Excellent product, easy to use, clean up is also a breeze. We use it at least once a week and it does what it says.Great little cooker - emphasis on little - a bit smaller than I expected but actually perfect for producing a perfect 6 cups of brown rice (which I find challenging to get right using other methods.) This fit the bill for me.

This is a pretty basic rice cooker, but it works really well. I like that it is stainless rather than having a non-stick coating. It might be a little harder to clean, but at least it shouldn't be introducing carcinogens into the rice. View More NEW 8 Cups Capacity White Automatic Cook to Warm Stainless Steel Rice Cooker

This rice cooker is great for several reasons:

1) it is stainless steel

2) It can cook ,barley, quinoa, rice , brown rice, lentils , bulgur , just about any grain. (you have to experiment with the amount of water)

3) the genius of the design is that the bowl is shaped so that when the water has been absorbed, the cooker senses it, and goes into warming mode. If you want the grain to be softer , you need to use more water. you can add water and push the button down again if necessary (after waiting a couple minutes)

4) it has no electronics to break down...the shape of the bowl takes care of knowing when the water is absorbed. It's an inherently intelligent design.

5) with the steamer, you can cook rice in the bottom and vegetables , tofu etc in the top simultaneously. Just start it , and it will shut off when done , and go into the warm mode. Good if you can't watch it .. You just have to make sure you use the right proportion of water...

This rice cooker works fine. We had a previous model for many years, but it had an aluminum pan. It was the right size for us though. Our choices here were a three cup cooker or this eight cup cooker. We liked the four cup cooker we had. In comparison, this feels large and cumbersome. It cooks fine though.

My mother has this rice cooker and she just adores it. It makes great rice every time! I purchased this one for my Aunt who is very much concerned with her health and anything she can do to reduce her risk of just about anything she is on top of!

This rice cooker apparently doesn't have a substance that contributes to the plaque building that causes Alzhiemers that any product with regular teflon has...That's a major plus in my book. I'll be purchasing one for myself very soon as well!

Enjoy easy home cooking with the Aroma Simply Stainless 3-Cup (Uncooked) 6-Cup (Cooked) Rice Cooker. It prepares 2 to 6 cups of restaurant-quality cooked rice at the press of a button, automatically switching to keep-warm once the rice has cooked to perfection. This convenient appliance is also great for cooking deliciously easy oatmeal, soup, stew, chili and more. The cooking pot is made completely of surgical grade 304 stainless steel. And once the cooking is done, the cooking pot removes for quick and easy cleanup in the dishwasher. Includes measuring cup and serving spatula.

For the price this cooker is a bargain. It is not perfect; it "spits" a bit out of the "blow hole" in the lid and the rice sticks to the stainless steel cook bowl more than my previous cooker but it cleans easily. The easy clean up and the ease of making rice are what I was looking for. I make two or three small batches of rice a week because I make dogfood for my pets. I use the cooker in my garage kitchen so the "spitting" is not an issue. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Had a smaller rice cooker before this one - with an aluminum cooking bowl as compared to the stainless on this one. Mostly wanted a slightly larger cooker but turns out that the rice doesn't stick as much to the stainless as it did to the aluminum. Another advantage is that the rice cooks a fair amount faster in the new one - either it gets hotter faster or simply hotter or more elements? I read online while I was selecting this one that to prevent sticking put a couple of drops of oil in the stainless bowl and rub it around to coat it before adding the rice and water. This helps a lot and if you turn off (unplug) the cooker after it's finished it doesn't stick as much. If you don't unplug it, it goes into a "keep warm" mode which seems to contribute to more sticking to the bottom of the bowl.
Anyway, the cooker is great for the price, hope the usability hints help.

This stainless steel cooker has been a life saver. I cook all my grains in it including rice, quinoa, millet, etc.
I bought it as I wanted to avoid a toxic non-stick coating basket. I throw the stainless steel basket in the dishwasher. You can let it soak if food gets stuck at the bottom beforehand. The cooker stops automatically when the grain is cooked and keeps it warm.

Our last rice cooker made enough for me to freeze or to have in the fridge for a couple of days. This one really will only do enough for the four of us in one meal. BUT it is all stainless steel, and we love it. I can do more than just rice. I can do vegies and add vegie broth, etc.

I also give it only four stars because after the rice is done, it does NOT shut off!!!! Why not? It goes to WARM. Well, if I am busy, then it will burn and it is a pain to clean the burnt stuff off the bottom. I wish it would just shut off, because it would stay warm for a long time.

Works wonderfully and quinoa does not stick to the bottom of the pan though I coat it with a little coconut oil before using. It is easy to operate. Takes a minute to get used to the bubbling when it begins cooking but not too long. Easy to operate and easy to clean.

This little 3-cup rice steamer (not a cooker!) makes good rice and cleans up easily. It's quite fast, too, but the lid rattles as the water is boiling while it steams the rice. My biggest complaint is the price. I was in a hurry when I bought this and didn't compare it to other sizes by the same company. Now I see that the 10-cup version of the same model line is about the same price while a 6-cup version is more expensive than either one. All sold by Amazon, not a 3rd party. What's the deal?

This does a great job at cooking rice, but I have not tried cooking anything else. I had to experiment with how much water to put in the outer part of it according to how much water I was using for the rice. I found it helps to soak the rice for 30 min. first. I use Indian Basmati rice, so I use 2 cups of water in the inner pot along with 1 cup of rice (that is, U.S. measures). I then use the little enclosed cup to put about 1-1/2 cups in the outer chamber. I just find it annoying that the enclosed cup is only 6 oz., so when it is advertised as a 3-cup rice cooker, it is NOT 3 cups U.S. measure - it is 3 of the little 6-oz cups. So I just stick to the U.S. 1 cup rice/2 cups water measure, and it is fine.

This stainless steel rice cooker and steamer offers multi-functional cooking options: cooks rice and porridge, stews soup, steams vegetables, fish and poultry, and much more all with a simple touch of a button. Cooks with steam to maintain nutrients for a healthy lifestyle Stainless steel components: body, cover and inner pot Features automatic shut-off and independent Warm switch Note: With this unit, the amount of water in the cooker determines the cooking time, you may add more if desired, but at least 1-Cup of water must be placed in the cooker before starting the cooking cycle

We enjoy white rice each and every day for as long as I can remember and we have waited a long time for an 3-4 cup rice cooker that utilized a non-coated stainless inner steam pot. For the past two years Sunpentown's competitor's 8 cup stainless cooker has been our mainstay and though it has been a nice unit it was always an effort to clean the stainless pot and learned that soaking it with soapy water for 30 minutes was very helpful, but still two of us didn't require such a large cooker. By chance I happened to hear of the Sunpentown 3 cup rice cooker at a reasonable price and maintained it included a stainless steel inner cooking pot. I ordered one from Amazon and was so dissapointed after reading the opinion/review that the inner pot was or could be coated with some type of non-stick coating so I e-mailed Sunpentown asking if this was or wasn't true. Within an hour I received a cordial letter informing me that all of the inner cooking components were indeed stainless steel and were never coated with any PTFE or other non-stick coating. After receiving the cooker we enjoyed 3 cups of great tasting rice and because the pot sits in 1 cup of water the extreme temperature to the bottom of the inner pot is minimized and the rice is cooked evenly. We still soak the cooking pot for a short time but it is not necessary and cleaning is very easy. Thank you Sunpentown for developing exactly the right rice cooker this family wanted.

This rice maker is awesome! I did my research and was looking to purchase a rice maker free of Teflon with a great price. This rice maker has met my expectations. I use it twice a week. Very easy to clean. Follow the directions and you will have great rice every time! I have only made sticky-sushi rice in it so far. Delivery took a little longer then expected, absolutely love my choice!

This is my second Oyama CFS-B12U All Stainless Rice Cooker. The first one lasted 3 years. I use it at least 3 to 5 times a week. I eat a lot of rice. I love the simple one button operation. It cooks the rice to perfection every time. The stainless steel bowl is easy to clean. A little tip, spray it with cooking spray before you put the rice and water into it and it cleans up even faster. I make rice in the morning when I leave for work and it stays warm all day long (up to 24hrs). Doesn't get much easier. I did try the Panasonic with Fuzzy Logic before reordering this unit. I thought all the fancy option might be a plus. They were not, only more expensive and the Panasonic cannot cook rice properly, or at least to my satisfaction. Get this unit and you will not be disappointed.

This is an excellent rice cooker. It cleans up so easy, and no more nasty "non-stick coating' in our food!
My suggestions for using this cooker:

1) Use more water than specified in the instructions to avoid dry, stuck on rice in the bottom of the pot. Try using between 1.5 to 2 measures of water to 1 measure of rice. Experiment with the ratio to find your preferred cooked rice.

2) Set it outside on your porch or patio to avoid steaming up the house!
